Broadcast in analog format, the main surveillance systems in the past, seemed to be closed circuit television. Pictures would have to be recorded, as signals did not reach that far, and watched at a later date and images were not in real time. This system was fine as long as you didn’t leave the house!

Movements in your house can be sent, through the internet, to your computer for you to see in real time.

When buying your cameras it is important that they are discreet and blend in with the surroundings as much as possible and most importantly of all do not cut on cost. If you are building your own surveillance system, then there is a variety of software available, that can alert you by phone, email or text when an intruder enters your home, which is very helpful if you are out of the house for a long time and unable to access the internet.

These days images are much clearer than the old analog videos, and unlike when recording onto video tape, recording images in a digital format will retain its quality however many times it is played back. The digital files are also compressed and saved much easier than a stack of video tapes.

There are many advantages to digital surveillance systems and nowadays systems are relatively inexpensive and simple to install and operate.
