For decades regular CCTV systems have been commonplace in malls, supermarkets, car parks and stairwells but it has only been a very recent occurrence to see Home CCTV systems. Over the past few years these systems have become increasingly popular because of rapid decrease in prices and increasing availability on the open market.

New ranges of home CCTV systems are released onto the market each month all with varying price ranges. Some home owners choose to have a single camera mounted outside their font door, and others have a full setup installed inside the house too which are linked via a wireless network.

Over the last twelve months, the sales quantities of home CCTV systems have skyrocketed. A huge 70% rise in purchases have been recorded in the United States alone, only proving how great the need is to have security installed in your home. 82 per cent of current CCTV owners admit to only using it on the outside of their homes, with the rest using cameras inside too.

The only burden that comes with having security cameras on the walls of your home is that unbeknown to most, you could be in breach of many privacy laws. These laws state that you must not have your camera or cameras pointed towards any neighboring properties or gardens and never towards any public open spaces.

There are also a few cheap ways in which you can strengthen your home security. By using things such as deadlocks on your windows and doors and external automatic lighting, you can build a very good security system to help ward off criminals.

The availability of night vision systems has become more common in the last few years. The camera give out a black and white image usually although there are versions which are fully color enabled but will switch to monochrome when the light is lost at the end of the day. Each camera has a special infrared light inside the lens which enables clear recording when light is very dim.

If you would prefer to actually reduce the amount of film or camera memory that you are using, it is possible to purchase a motion detective camera. This means that it will only turn on and begin recording when it finds movement near to it. They can be very effective but may miss vital bits of information if it is not angled in the right direction.
