When people envision a kitchen of the future, they often see stainless steel refrigerators and, well, pretty much an entire kitchen full of stainless steel appliances. It's no wonder when we see a movie that's based in 3,000 A.D. we're oooed and awwwed by all that beautiful silver. Everything about it says wow. What's interesting to note is that you can go out and research two, identical in every way except that one is made with stainless steel, and the other some other pretty material and the one that is stainless steel will be more expensive, even if it doesn't have as many features!

Most sales persons at department stores are not trained to know what you want, need, or how to help you decide which refrigerator to buy. You will find most of the time they are trained to try to sell you the most expensive unit they can talk you into, and often they will play on your emotions, trying to sell you things you don't need. In today's economy it's important to save as much money as possible on refrigerator freezers but at the same time get your money's worth.

Doing a few hours of research online using Google, you can learn all about what you should be asking the sales associate, but more importantly you will discover what you need and what you don't. If you walk into the store with no idea what you need, then the sales associate will sell you anything they see an emotional response to when they are describing things. What you should do is first write down a list of what you need the refrigerator freezers for. Do you need a bigger model or a built in model because your kitchen is small. Do you need more room in the freezer or will a standard freezer work? How much food will you be putting in the unit? Is frost a pet peeve of yours? …and so on.

Rice machines are very handy to have if you cook real rice few times a month. You just put in the rice, poor the water to certain level, and machine does the rest. But it will not cook instant rice any faster, so if you do not mind eating that type of rice, why bother buying this machine?

Bread machine: People considering diets should not even look at these appliances. The smell of fresh baking bread spreading throughout a house can hypnotize even the hardest dieters to completely forget about their eating plans. Thus, it makes a perfect Christmas gift for someone who has a weight problem and who is not on your most favorite list.

Mixers: If you like making cakes, this is certainly a must have item. Don't even think about it – just get it – whipping stuff by hand stopped being attractive almost a century ago.

This is only showcased on the exterior of the unit (and possibly parts of the interior only for looks) but it basically boils down to the fact that this is a permanent fixture in your kitchen, and like a new car, people just love to show it off when it's pretty. What a great ice breaker right? Would you pay more for a car of equal performance if it had an extra coat of clear coat paint, sexy rims, and a wing on the back? Of course you would
